Vadodara: The Chhattisgarh High Court has imposed a fine of ₹25,000 on Divine Laboratory of Vadodara for supplying poor-quality Heparin injections. The company had challenged the Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation Limited’s (CGMSC) order to blacklist the injection for three years in the High Court. Dismissing the petition, the court imposed the fine.

Heparin injections are used to reduce the blood clotting ability and are critical during open-heart surgeries and angioplasty procedures. The company produced such poor-quality injections that they failed to thin the blood, increasing the risk to heart patients. The departments of cardiology and cardiac surgery wrote to hospital management, reporting the substandard quality. During angioplasty procedures, blood clots were forming, endangering patients’ lives. As a result, both departments began sourcing injections from the market instead of using Divine’s products, which effectively dissolved thick blood and clots.

This clearly proved that the Heparin injection was substandard. Following this, CGMSC took action to blacklist the company. According to CGMSC Managing Director Padmini Bhoi Sahu, serious complaints regarding the poor quality of this injection had been received from hospitals in Raipur and Ambikapur.
