Odisha plans New Cuttack city modelled on the lines of GIFT City, Gujarat
July 28, 2025
Bhubaneswar: In a significant urban development initiative, the Odisha government is considering the creation of a 426-acre ‘New Cuttack City’ along the banks of the Mahanadi river. Inspired by Gujarat’s GIFT City, the plan is part of a wider strategy to transform the Bhubaneswar‑Cuttack‑Puri‑Paradip Economic Region (BCPPER) into a globally competitive urban‑industrial corridor.
The city is expected to feature an international‑standard eco‑park, research and rejuvenation centres, sports complexes, and tourism facilities aimed at attracting investors, skilled professionals, and tourists from across the country and abroad. It will target emerging sectors including health and wellness, eco‑tourism, sports science, and advanced research, alongside public recreational spaces that will benefit residents of Cuttack and neighbouring areas.
The New Cuttack initiative is a key pillar of Odisha Vision 2036, which aims to grow the region’s economy from $22 billion to $500 billion. DeshGujarat
