AMC eyes ₹120 crore from sale of commercial units in Sindhu Bhavan multi-level parking complex

Ahmedabad: To resolve the long-standing parking issues on the upscale Sindhu Bhavan Road, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) constructed a multi-level parking-cum-commercial complex. The civic body now expects to generate approximately ₹120 crore in revenue through the sale of shops and offices located on the first and fifth floors of the building.

Tenders have been invited for the permanent sale (through registered sale deeds) of these units, and an e-auction has been scheduled for September 3.

Devang Dani, Chairman of the AMC Standing Committee, said the auction includes 39 shops on the first floor and 29 offices on the fifth floor. The estimated revenue from the sale is pegged at ₹120 crore. Initially, these units were offered on a 99-year lease, but with no takers, AMC has now opted for outright sale via auction.

He added that the Standing Committee had approved a proposal empowering the Municipal Commissioner to carry out the sale through public auction and extended the process timeline by four months. It is estimated that the first-floor units could fetch around ₹50 crore, while the fifth-floor offices—with access to an open terrace—may generate approximately ₹70 crore.

This development marks a significant step toward monetising underutilised municipal assets while addressing infrastructure challenges in high-demand urban areas. DeshGujarat
