Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is moving ahead with its plan to build a mini sports complex in each zone of the city, in line with preparations for Ahmedabad’s anticipated role as host of the 2036 Olympics.
As part of this initiative, proposals worth over ₹125 crore for mini sports complexes in Gota, Ghuma, Naroda, and Nikol have been cleared. At the road and building committee meeting on Friday, AMC approved the construction of a mini sports complex in Naroda for ₹32.61 crore and another in Nikol for ₹32.72 crore. Meanwhile, the committee had sanctioned projects in Gota for ₹30.49 crore and in Ghuma for ₹41.92 crore in June and July.
In addition to the mini complexes, AMC plans to develop five large sports complexes in Gota, Bopal–Ghuma, Ranip, Naroda, and Nikol, with an estimated budget of ₹200–250 crore. Tenders for these facilities have been floated and are now under approval. DeshGujarat
