Over 2,800 property cards canceled in Godhra

Godhra: Following allegations of corruption in the issuance of property cards at the Godhra City Survey Office, a team from Gandhinagar conducted a three-day investigation and found that 2,831 property cards had been issued in violation of rules. The investigation team collected all relevant documents for verification.

After the probe, the Gujarat Settlement Commissioner and Land Records Directorate confirmed that the then City Survey Superintendent of Godhra, D.D. Patel, had irregularly issued over 2,831 property cards. In view of these irregularities, D.D. Patel has been immediately suspended from his duties.

The office faced a dilemma regarding whether to cancel or continue the 2,831 flawed property cards. Following a written recommendation from the DILR, the District Collector ordered the cancellation of all property cards issued in violation of rules. The affected cardholders will now have to undergo the property card process afresh in accordance with regulations. DeshGujarat
