Two held in Surat for knife attack on Ganpati Group members

Surat: Seven members of the ‘Garden Group Ganpati’ were attacked in Adajan early Sunday, leaving two people, including a passerby, seriously injured. Both victims were admitted to BAPS Hospital.

Police arrested the accused, identified as Pritesh Parmar and Prem Kuvar alias Jokham, on charges of attempted murder. According to complainant Mohit Pathak, he, his wife Honey, and friends Dhruv Patel, Khushi Raval, Devanshi Patel, and Bobby Rathod had gone to a Ganpati welcome event near Prime Arcade and later planned dinner at Richie Rich restaurant in Dhruv’s SUV. Around 1 am, near Adajan Gam Circle, they were stuck in a traffic jam caused by an accident on the BRTS route. When Devanshi, who was driving, honked at a car ahead, its occupants—Parmar and Jokham—stepped out and began arguing.

On learning that the group belonged to the Garden Group, Jokham mocked them and a scuffle broke out. The situation escalated when Parmar pulled out a knife and attacked Pathak and their friend Ravi Baraiya, who had come to help. Passerby Vishal Tilava, who tried to intervene, was also stabbed. Inspector P.J. Solanki of Adajan police said both accused were arrested for attempted murder, while a cross-complaint was also filed by Parmar, claiming he was assaulted by Pathak and his friends.
