ACB Gujarat nabs railway T.C. in moving train in decoy bribe trap
August 28, 2025
Surat: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat has nabbed Anil Omkar Kaushal (30), posted as Deputy Chief Ticket Inspector, Class-3 in Ratlam Division of Indian Railways, in a bribery case.
The ACB had received a tip-off that passengers traveling on trains from Surat to Mumbai, heading towards Navsari, Billimora, Valsad, and Vapi, were often approached by Ticket Collectors (T.C.s) for bribes if they did not possess tickets for the correct coach. The bribe demanded usually ranged from ₹200 to ₹500.
To verify the information, a decoy passenger, in coordination with Surat Railway Station authorities, boarded the Paschim Express in Coach S-2. During ticket checking, the T.C. approached the decoy, who had a general coach ticket. When asked about a sleeper coach seat, the decoy agreed. The T.C. then wrote a coach and seat number on the ticket, deliberately avoided performing his official duty, and demanded ₹200 as a bribe for personal gain. The decoy handed over the amount, after which the officer was caught red-handed. DeshGujarat
