Youth slit throat of girl after she blocked him on social media in Bhuj; held

Bhuj: In a shocking incident, a college-going girl lost her life after her throat was slit. The victim was allegedly involved in a romantic relationship with the accused, who attacked her when she refused to continue the relationship and blocked him on social media. The incident occurred on Thursday, and the young woman succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment today. The accused has been arrested by the police.

The tragic event took place on Airport Road in Bhuj city, involving Sakshi Bhanushali, a first-year BCA student at Sanskar College. She was allegedly murdered by her neighbor, Mohit Mulji Siddhpura, after she refused to continue their relationship. Mohit attacked Sakshi with a knife, fatally slitting her throat.

When Sakshi’s friend tried to intervene, Mohit stabbed him in the back. Both victims were seriously injured, and the assailant fled on his bike. Bystanders alerted college authorities, who rushed the injured to a hospital.

It has come to light that Mohit, originally from Gandhidham and residing near the victim, had been in a relationship with Sakshi. Recently, Sakshi ended the relationship and decided to stay in Bhuj for her studies. The day before the attack, Mohit pressured Sakshi over the phone to quit her studies and return to Gandhidham. Sakshi informed her mother and then blocked Mohit.

The Bhuj Division Police have registered a murder case and launched a detailed investigation. The 22-year-old accused, Mohit Siddhpura, was arrested from the Bhuj area late last night. DySP R.D. Jadeja confirmed that the dispute escalated after Sakshi blocked Mohit’s number following their disagreement.

Shambulal Nanda, a leader of the Bhanushali community, condemned the attack, calling it a tragic incident that shocks society. He urged authorities to take precautionary measures to prevent such events in the future.

This attack comes amid a series of violent incidents in Kutch’s educational institutions over the past nine days, including fights between student groups and attacks on school and college staff, raising concerns about student safety and discipline.
