Ahmedabad student stabbing: CCTV footage emerges 15 days after the incident

Ahmedabad: CCTV footage from Seventh Day Adventist School in Khokhra, where Class 10 student Nayan was stabbed with a box cutter by a fellow student on August 19, has surfaced after 15 days. The footage shows the injured boy entering the school around 12:53 pm, clutching his stomach where he was stabbed, before collapsing inside the campus.

The footage highlights alleged negligence by the school administration, as no staff member can be seen providing first aid. Instead, a security guard is seen dispersing students. Moments later, Nayan’s mother arrived at the school with her friend, and with the help of students, placed him in an auto-rickshaw and rushed him to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Shockingly, the school’s security guards and staff stood by without helping, while a 108 ambulance arrived only after the family had already taken Nayan away.

The incident took place after a minor scuffle between two Class 10 students. Nayan succumbed to his injuries the next morning, triggering outrage as agitated family members and locals vandalized the school, leading to a rioting case against them as well.

Meanwhile, the District Education Officer (DEO) has formed a five-member inquiry committee to investigate the matter, with a report due within 10 days. Additionally, more than 170 parents have already withdrawn Leaving Certificates (LCs) from the school, with over 50 withdrawals recorded in a single day. Parents continue to accuse the management of poor administration and insensitivity, while the Crime Branch has booked the school principal for negligence. DeshGujarat
