IMD forecasts heavy to very heavy rains in these parts of Gujarat; alert issued

Ahmedabad: A new low-pressure system forming over the Bay of Bengal is set to bring widespread rain to Gujarat this week. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued multiple yellow and orange alerts for heavy to very heavy rainfall. The most intense showers are expected in Narmada and Tapi districts on September 4 and 5.

September 3 (Wednesday): Heavy to very heavy rain is very likely at isolated places in Narmada and Tapi districts, while heavy rain is expected in Panchmahal, Dahod, Chhota Udepur, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, and the Union Territories of Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Thunderstorms with lightning and winds of 30–40 kmph may occur in parts of North and South Gujarat, Saurashtra-Kutch, and Diu.
September 4 (Thursday): Narmada and Tapi may receive isolated extremely heavy falls, while Chhota Udepur, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, and the Union Territories are likely to get very heavy rain. Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, and Diu are expected to witness heavy rainfall.
September 5 (Friday): Extremely heavy falls are forecast in Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, and the Union Territories. Heavy to very heavy rain may lash Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Dang, Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Botad. Meanwhile, several districts of North Gujarat, Saurashtra, and Diu are likely to receive heavy showers.
September 6 (Saturday): Extremely heavy rainfall is expected in Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, and the Union Territories, while Amreli and Bhavnagar may also see very heavy showers. Other Saurashtra districts including Rajkot, Porbandar, Junagadh, Dwarka, Gir Somnath, and Botad, along with central Gujarat districts like Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, and Tapi, are also on alert for heavy rain.
September 7 (Sunday): Surendranagar and Rajkot may experience extremely heavy rainfall, with Jamnagar, Morbi, Dwarka, and Botad likely to face very heavy rain. Several parts of North and South Gujarat, Saurashtra, Kutch, and Diu are also expected to receive heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.
September 8 (Monday): Rainfall activity is likely to concentrate over Saurashtra-Kutch, with heavy rain expected in Surendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Morbi, Dwarka, and Kutch.
The IMD has advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea and urged residents in low-lying and riverbank areas to remain alert, as intense rainfall may cause waterlogging and localized flooding in vulnerable regions of South Gujarat and Saurashtra. DeshGujarat
