Congress raises concerns over lack of facilities at Govind Guru University

Godhra: Congress spokesperson Dr. Parthivrajsinh Kathwadi has raised serious concerns regarding Shri Govind Guru University and the state’s education system.

Speaking at a press conference, he said, “Shri Govind Guru University, which has been operating in Gujarat for 10 years, still suffers from a significant lack of basic facilities. It is the only government university in the state where postgraduate departments operate in private colleges.”

He highlighted that the Mathematics and Life Sciences departments function at Navjeevan College in Dahod, the Social Work department in Kalol, the Education department in Kakanpur, the Management department in Vadodara, and the Law department in Bodeli.

“For students from tribal, backward, and economically weaker communities, government universities are expected to provide education at government-standard fees and facilities. However, at Govind Guru University, courses are being run on a self-financed basis, burdening poor tribal, middle-class, backward-class, and farmer families in a government-funded institution,” Kathwadi said.

He also pointed out that the university, located about 25 kilometers from Godhra, does not provide basic hostel facilities, and students face significant difficulties due to distance and lack of transport. “Is this the current state of government universities in Gujarat?” he questioned.

Kathwadi further expressed concern over the condition of schools in the state, noting shortages of classrooms, playgrounds, and teachers. The Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee has also criticized the government over the decline in rankings of state universities. DeshGujarat
