Ahmedabad: For the sixth consecutive year, the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has been ranked No. 1 in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Management category. The list of leading colleges was released by Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan today.
As per the data, IIMA maintained a sanctioned intake of 455 seats for its flagship two-year postgraduate program in 2023-24, with a total actual student strength of 896, including a balanced gender profile of 675 male and 221 female students.
Placement records remain strong, with a median salary of Rs 31 lakh per annum for graduates in 2023-24, and nearly 97.7% of students placed. The institution also continues its commitment to research and doctoral studies, supporting 126 full-time Ph.D. candidates and awarding 20 Ph.D. degrees in the recent academic year.
The NIRF Management rankings evaluate institutions based on five key parameters, each with specific weightage. Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR) carries a 30% weight and assesses student strength, faculty-student ratio, faculty qualifications and experience, and financial resources.
Research and Professional Practice (RP), also weighted at 30%, evaluates publications, quality of research, and the institution’s footprint in projects, professional practice, and executive development programs.
Graduation Outcomes (GO), with a 20% weight, considers placement and higher studies, university examination results, and median salary of graduates.
Outreach and Inclusivity (OI) accounts for 10% and measures diversity in terms of students from other states, women enrollment, economically and socially challenged students, and facilities for physically challenged students.
Finally, Perception (PR), also weighted at 10%, captures peer perception among employers and academic peers, completing the comprehensive assessment framework used for ranking management institutions under NIRF. DeshGujarat
