Gujarat completes nearly 99% of seasonal average rainfall; 13 districts get over 100% rains

Gandhinagar: Gujarat has received nearly 99% of its seasonal average rainfall so far, according to official data. The state recorded 871.73 mm of rainfall against the average of 882 mm (1995–2024), reaching 98.85% of the seasonal norm.

Among regions, South Gujarat and East Central Gujarat surpassed their seasonal averages with 105.44% and 103.58% rainfall, respectively. South Gujarat received 1,570.74 mm compared to the average of 1,490 mm, while East Central Gujarat recorded 833.64 mm against the average of 805 mm.

North Gujarat stood close to normal with 706.25 mm, amounting to 98.25% of the average. Kutch and Saurashtra, however, remained below par, receiving 92.55% and 88.11% of their long-term averages, respectively.

Out of 33 districts, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Kheda, Panchmahal, Anand, Bharuch, Narmada, Surat, Tapi, Botad and Bhavnagar have recorded surplus rainfall with over 100% of their averages. Most other districts, except two — Amreli and Patan — have completed 75% to 100% of their average rainfall. Amreli and Patan remain lower, with 73.4% and 70.27% rainfall, respectively, so far.

During the last 24 hours, the state received an average of 26.11 mm of rainfall, with 198 talukas reporting showers. Dolvan in Tapi district recorded nearly 6.4 inches of rain, the highest in the state during this period.

With a forecast of heavy rainfall in the coming three days, Gujarat is likely to complete its average rainfall tally soon, with September monsoon showers still ahead. DeshGujarat
