Rains shift to Kutch on Monday morning; North Gujarat also lashed with heavy downpour

Gandhinagar: Rainfall activity intensified in Kutch on Monday morning, with several talukas recording significant precipitation between 6 am and 12 pm, according to the State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC), Gandhinagar.
Rapar in Kutch received the highest rainfall of 96 mm (3.78 inches), followed closely by Bhabhar in Banaskantha with 86 mm (3.39 inches) and Gandhidham in Kutch at 82 mm (3.23 inches). Other areas experiencing moderate showers included Santalpur (Patan) 69 mm (2.72 inches), Nakhatrana (Kutch) 64 mm (2.52 inches), and Bhachau (Kutch) 64 mm (2.52 inches). Lakhpat (Kutch) and Radhanpur (Patan) both recorded 61 mm (2.40 inches) of rainfall in six hours until noon today.
Among other places receiving over 1 inch of rain were Maliya in Morbi district, which recorded 49 mm, while Anjar (Kutch) and Bhuj saw 51 mm and 45 mm of rainfall, respectively. Banaskantha’s Deodar recorded 43 mm, and Abdasa (Kutch) 31 mm. Several other talukas, including Mandvi, Tharad, Vav, Mundra, Halvad, Lakhani, and Morbi, received between 6 mm and 28 mm.
Moderate to light showers were also reported across Patan, Ahmedabad, Valsad, Surat, Sabarkantha, Jamnagar, and Panchmahals districts, with rain ranging from 1 mm to 6 mm. In total, 56 talukas recorded rainfall between 6 am and 12 pm. More areas are expected to be lashed as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy rains in Kutch and North Gujarat over the next 48 hours due to a deep depression moving toward Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Collector & District Magistrate, Kachchh announced that due to the heavy rainfall, several GSRTC bus services have been disrupted. As of Monday morning, 10 bus routes have been temporarily suspended, affecting 18 scheduled trips. The affected routes include Dhorado–Hajipir–Ratdiya–Bhojay, Rapar–Ramvav, Ramvav–Lodhida, Rapar–Balasar–Vrajvani, Rapar–Dholavira, Rapar–Gedi–Fatehgarh, Adhoi–Lakhpat, Mevasa–Manaba, and Rapar–Naliya Timbo. Passengers are advised to check with local bus stations for updates before traveling.
Furthermore, National Highway 927C (Chitrod–Rapar–Balasar) in Rapar taluka has been closed to traffic. The public is requested to avoid traveling on this road. The suggested alternative route is Rapar–Kalyanpur–Selari–Fatehgarh–Movana–Balasar Road.
