IAS RatanKanvar Gadhvicharan Appointed as Gujarat Food & Drug Commissioner as HG Koshiya Retires
September 13, 2025
Ahmedabad: The Gujarat government has appointed Dr. Ratankanvar H. Gadhvicharan, the current Commissioner of Health, as the new Commissioner of Food and Drugs. He will hold this position as an additional charge.
The post had been lying vacant after H.G. Koshiya, who previously held the role, was not granted a seventh extension. To ensure continuity, the state has entrusted Dr. Gadhvicharan with the responsibility of overseeing the Food and Drugs Control Administration (FDCA), headquartered in Gandhinagar.
Dr. Gadhvicharan, an IAS officer, will now handle dual responsibilities—managing the state’s health department while also supervising regulatory oversight of food and pharmaceutical safety in Gujarat. DeshGujarat
