Ahmedabad police to clamp cars with tinted windows, missing number plates from parking areas during Navratri

Ahmedabad: As the city gears up for the upcoming Navratri festival, Ahmedabad Police have announced a special 10-day drive to crack down on vehicles with illegal tinted windows and missing number plates at Garba venues. For the first time, police teams will check parking areas of these events, clamp violators’ vehicles, remove black films on the spot, and impose fines before release.

The move follows a directive from the Gujarat High Court, which has strictly prohibited the use of black films on car windows. Police have already penalized several offenders in recent weeks, but this time the drive will specifically target vehicles parked at Garba grounds during the nine-day festival.

Special Security Measures for Navratri

Apart from the traffic crackdown, the police have formed special teams to curb late-night street racing by bikers and ensure overall safety. Elaborate security arrangements are being made for women, with strict orders issued to traffic police and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.

Organizers of Garba events have been instructed to install CCTV cameras and ensure fire safety compliance. Officers on duty will be equipped with body-worn cameras, while the “C-team” will be deployed in traditional attire to blend into crowds and discreetly monitor women’s safety.

Citywide Deployment

Officials said police personnel will be deployed across major city roads throughout Navratri. Vehicles will be checked at parking lots of Garba venues, and any found violating rules will be clamped immediately. Owners will have to pay fines and remove black films before their vehicles are released.

Authorities have warned that strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to flout the law during the festival. DeshGujarat
