New Delhi: The 71st National Film Awards ceremony was held today at Vigyan Bhawan in the national capital. At the event, the Gujarati film ‘Vash’ won multiple National Film Awards.

President Droupadi Murmu presented the Best Gujarati Feature Film award to the film’s producer Kalpesh Soni and director Krishnadev Yagnik.

Additionally, actress Janki Bodiwala received the National Award for Best Supporting Actress for her critically acclaimed performance in the film.

The National Film Awards are considered among the most prestigious accolades in Indian cinema. Organized annually by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, they recognize and encourage outstanding contributions by Indian filmmakers and artists.

Icons of Indian cinema, including Shah Rukh Khan, Vikrant Massey, and Rani Mukerji, were among the big winners. Malayalam superstar Mohanlal was honoured with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award 2023 for his iconic contribution to the film industry.

Shah Rukh Khan received his first-ever National Award for Best Actor for his performance in Jawan. Vikrant Massey also won the Best Actor award for 12th Fail, sharing the spotlight with Khan. Fans celebrated both actors on social media, calling Massey’s win “well-deserved.” Rani Mukerji was awarded Best Actress for her powerful role in Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway.

The Best Feature Film award went to Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail, while Kathal – A Jackfruit Mystery won Best Hindi Film. Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani received the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment award, along with Best Choreography for the song Dhindhora Baje Re.

Other notable winners included Shilpa Rao, who won Best Female Playback Singer for Chaleya from Jawan, and Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur, which received three awards, including Best Make-Up and Best Costume Design. Dhanush’s Tamil film Vaathi was recognised for Best Music Direction, while Vaibhavi Merchant won Best Choreography for Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. DeshGujarat
