Phase 1 of Dumas Sea Face Development Project likely to be ready by year-end

Surat: The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) is fast-tracking several major projects eagerly awaited by citizens. On Thursday, Mayor Daxesh Mavani, Municipal Commissioner Shalini Agarwal, and Standing Committee Chairman Rajan Patel held a review meeting to assess progress on six significant projects. Officials emphasized completing Phase 1 of the Dumas Sea Face Development Project and the Katargam Auditorium Project by December 15.

For the Dumas Sea Face Project, both Package-1 and Package-2 are expected to be ready for public use by the deadline. Officials noted challenges such as a high-tension line running across the two-hectare area, which cannot be immediately relocated, and pending land possession approvals on the DP of Sudan Road space. Quick action will follow once approval from GETCO is obtained.

The Katargam Auditorium project is also nearing completion, with officials stressing that it must open to the public by December 15. The meeting additionally reviewed the Gandhi Smriti Project, slated for completion by May 2026.

With the term of elected corporators ending in March and elections expected in January–February, the municipal administration is expediting work to ensure these public utility projects are ready for citizens before then. DeshGujarat
