Heavy Vehicle Banned on Kim River Bridge on NH-64 Between Ankleshwar and Olpad

Ankleshwar: Authorities have imposed a restriction on the movement of heavy and cargo vehicles on the major bridge over the Kim River, located on the Ankleshwar-Hansot-Kadrama stretch of NH-64, effective immediately until 14th November. The order was issued by Surat Additional District Magistrate Vijay Rabari, who also announced alternative routes for affected vehicles.

The bridge, situated between Vadoli and Sahol villages, recently underwent a Non-Destructive Test (NDT), which revealed that its structural condition is old and weak. Considering public safety, the administration has decided to immediately prohibit heavy vehicle traffic.

According to the official notification, the restriction will remain in place until 14th November. During this period, heavy vehicles and cargo trucks are advised to take alternative routes: from Ankleshwar (NH-48) via Kim to Olpad and vice versa. Normal traffic for smaller vehicles will continue, but trucks, containers, and cargo tankers will not be allowed to cross the bridge.

Violators of this order will face legal action. Police and the road department have been instructed to monitor and ensure that no heavy vehicle uses the restricted bridge. Local traffic diversions may cause minor inconvenience to commuters.

The major bridge over the Kim River is a key connection between Ankleshwar and Hansot. Discussions regarding future repairs or reconstruction of the bridge are also underway to ensure long-term safety and smooth traffic flow. DeshGujarat
