Amit Shah lays foundation stone for Rs 800 crore highway six-laning project in Gujarat
October 23, 2025
Ahmedabad: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is on a visit to his home state Gujarat, on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the Sanand–Khoraj six-laning project, a key infrastructure initiative aimed at accelerating the region’s industrial growth.
Under the project, the existing highway from Shantipura Circle in Ahmedabad to Khoraj (village in Gandhinagar) will be widened into a six-lane road with an estimated investment of ₹800 crore. The Chief Minister had approved the six-laning of this section of the Ahmedabad–Viramgam–Maliya Road in April this year. The decision came in view of increasing traffic congestion in the rapidly developing Sanand industrial belt, home to several major automobile and manufacturing units.
The project will involve widening the current stretch and removing both temporary and permanent encroachments along the route. Once completed, the new six-lane highway is expected to ease vehicular movement, reduce travel time, and enhance transportation efficiency in the area. DeshGujarat
