Jetpur: Panic gripped the Diwali funfair organized by the Rotary Club in Jetpur after a “Break Dance” ride suddenly collapsed, leaving a couple injured. Following the incident, Jetpur City Police immediately shut down the fair and launched a detailed investigation.
According to reports, Dhaval Mandali and his wife Gayatri Mandali sustained injuries after a section of the ride broke mid-operation. Both were rushed to the Jetpur Civil Hospital for urgent treatment. The mishap caused chaos among visitors and prompted officials to rush to the scene.
Preliminary findings point to serious negligence on the part of the ride operator, officials said.
Mamlatdar Orders Strict Action
Upon receiving information, In-charge Mamlatdar Ashish Bakhalia, along with police and administrative teams, reached the site. Expressing displeasure, he stated that authorities were not officially informed about the accident and learned of it only through media reports.
Bakhalia revealed that the damaged ride had been hastily repaired and reassembled after the incident. “This is a matter of grave concern. I have instructed police to conduct a thorough inquiry. A mechanical inspection will be carried out, and the fair will remain closed until the report is reviewed,” he said.
The administration has assured that further decisions regarding reopening the fair will be taken only after the concerned technical departments submit their findings.
