Rainy Saturday morning in parts of Gujarat; Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Bhavnagar districts top the chart

Gandhinagar: Several parts of Gujarat received moderate rainfall on Saturday morning, with the State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC) reporting showers between 6 a.m. and 12 noon. According to official data, Dhandhuka in Ahmedabad district recorded the highest rainfall of 63 mm (2.48 inches), followed by Lodhika in Rajkot with 41 mm (1.61 inches) and Umrala in Bhavnagar with 34 mm (1.34 inches).

Other areas that witnessed notable rainfall include Chuda in Surendranagar (32 mm), Jambusar in Bharuch (30 mm), Sayla in Surendranagar (28 mm), and Gadhada in Botad (25 mm). Moderate showers were also reported in Ranpur, Barwala, Palitana, Vallabhipur, and Kalavad, with rainfall ranging between 20 mm and 23 mm.

Light rainfall was recorded in parts of Anand, Vadodara, Narmada, Jamnagar, Chhota Udepur, and Panchmahals districts, where precipitation varied between 5 mm and 15 mm. Ahmedabad city itself received only 2 mm (0.08 inch) of rain during the period.

Even though the monsoon has long withdrawn and winter is about to set in, as many as 86 talukas received rainfall this morning due to a depression lying over the Arabian Sea. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning for some parts of the state for the next two days. The SEOC continues to monitor weather developments, as isolated rainfall activity may persist in some pockets later in the day.
