Over 20 flights delayed at Ahmedabad airport after massive disruption at Delhi Airport
November 07, 2025
Ahmedabad: Over 20 flights arriving at or departing from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in the city are facing delays following massive disruptions at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), which caused a ripple effect across several domestic and international routes. Passengers traveling to and from Surat and Vadodara also experienced late departures and arrivals due to the cascading impact from delays at Delhi Airport.
Several incoming and outgoing flights at Ahmedabad have been delayed throughout the day. These routes include Indigo flights from Jodhpur, Jaipur, Agra, Pune, Jalgaon, Bhopal, Chandigarh, and Nagpur. Air India’s Delhi–Ahmedabad flight has also been delayed for arrival at SVPI.
Similarly, in the case of departures, flights from Ahmedabad to Goa, Nagpur, Pune, Bhubaneswar, Indore, and Delhi have been affected. Even on international routes, Ahmedabad–Kuwait flight of Indigo Airlines has been delayed, and the departure time for the Ahmedabad–Bangkok flight has also been postponed.
Impact on Surat and Vadodara Airports
Flights to Surat and Vadodara were similarly affected. Flight 6E 6366 from Delhi to Surat is facing delays, and Vadodara-bound 6E 6624 is also delayed due to late arrivals of prior flights at Delhi Airport. Airlines have advised passengers to check monitors for updated flight information. Similarly, return flights from Surat and Vadodara have also been delayed or canceled in some cases.
Cause of Delays
The widespread disruption stems from a technical malfunction at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA). The Aeronautical Message Switching System (AMSS), which processes flight plans, has reportedly been malfunctioning for the past two days. With the system down, controllers are entering flight details manually, increasing workload and causing knock-on delays across multiple airports.
Airport officials in Ahmedabad, Surat, and Vadodara have assured passengers that flights are being managed as efficiently as possible, but delays are expected to continue until normal operations resume at Delhi Airport. DeshGujarat
