Gandhinagar: Gujarat Police Director General of Police (DGP) Vikas Sahay today held a crucial statewide security review meeting at Police Bhavan. The meeting, conducted via video conference, was attended by all unit heads, city police commissioners, and district police chiefs across the state, an official statement said.
During the meeting, DGP Sahay issued detailed instructions and provided guidance to ensure heightened vigilance and preparedness in light of the current security scenario and recent terrorist activities. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a high level of alertness to prevent any untoward incidents in Gujarat.
A key focus of the meeting was strengthening the infrastructure of field units, including the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), to enhance civil security. The DGP also reviewed the performance of Special Operations Groups (SOGs) across districts and directed officers to ensure proper record-keeping on 30 critical operational matters.
Specific instructions were issued to maintain updated registers of previously arrested individuals, particularly those involved in serious offenses under laws such as the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA), NDPS Act, Arms Act, Explosives Act, and cases related to counterfeit Indian currency. The DGP stressed the need for continuous monitoring of such individuals and their activities.
Sahay also directed both SOG and local police units to keep their human intelligence networks active and maintain constant surveillance to identify and curb any suspicious or anti-social activities.
Senior officers, including the ADGP and DIG of ATS and the DIG of the State Intelligence Bureau (IB), were present at Police Bhavan, while police commissioners and district police chiefs participated via video conferencing. DeshGujarat
