GIFT City to get new sports arena with golf driving range, box cricket, pickleball facility

Gandhinagar: Gujarat International Finance Tec-City Company Limited (GIFTCL) has initiated the tender process for the design, development, operation, and maintenance of a dedicated Sports Arena within the business hub.

The initiative aims to foster physical fitness, encourage social interaction, and promote a vibrant urban lifestyle for the occupants of India’s first operational smart city and IFSC. The arena, situated in Block No. 55, is proposed to feature five sporting activities: Box Cricket, Box Football, Pickleball, Mini Baseball, and a Golf Driving Range (Top Golf). The overarching objective is to provide a world-class sporting experience for players, spectators, and staff.

The scope of development includes the construction of an impermanent sports arena encompassing necessary Civil Work, Structural Work, Electrical Work, Plumbing Work, and Drainage Work. Essential infrastructure features include an office, security cabin, and a dedicated booking kiosk.

Technical specifications define specialized requirements — for instance, the Mini Baseball field mandates a diamond size of 60 feet (with an optional 50 feet), a pitching distance of 46 feet, and a 200-foot distance for the center, left, and right fields.

Upon completion, the facility will undergo an Operation and Maintenance (O&M) period of five years, which may be extended based on satisfactory performance. O&M responsibilities include ensuring continuous, safe, and efficient operation. The appointed contractor must manage event logistics, prepare operational plans, ensure venue readiness (including seating, lighting, HVAC, and cleanliness), implement staffing and security arrangements, and regulate traffic and crowd management.

For facility access and usage, the contractor is required to develop a Digital Platform along with the booking kiosk for ticketing and payments, with all generated revenue to be deposited directly to GIFTCL. Pricing for activities will be determined by GIFTCL, and a differential pricing structure will apply for GIFT City employees and residents compared to visitors.

Notably, during the O&M period, GIFTCL will share 30% of revenue per month with the contractor for the initial two years. From the third year onwards, the revenue share will be 20% until the end of the fifth year.  DeshGujarat
