Zone 1 of Dumas Sea Face Development Project 75% complete; likely to open in Dec

Surat: Residents of Surat are eagerly awaiting the completion of the Dumas Sea Face Development Project being executed by the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) along Dumas beach. The most crucial component of the project, Zone 1, is expected to be completed by December, with nearly 75% of its work already finished. Once completed, the development will offer the city a modern beachfront featuring entertainment facilities and nature tourism attractions.
During the Municipal Corporation’s general board meeting on Friday, Corporator Himanshu Raulji sought detailed information about the project’s progress. Deputy Commissioner Dinesh R. Guruv presented a comprehensive status report in response.
According to the update, the Dumas Sea Face project spans 102 hectares and covers a 5-kilometer coastline. The project has been divided into four zones:
- Zone 1: Urban zone
- Zone 2: Public space eco zone and walkway
- Zone 3: Forest eco-tourism and wellness centre
- Zone 4: Redevelopment of Dumas Port
Key facilities planned under Zone 1 include a kids’ play area, event ground, urban beach, yoga zone, public horticulture area, café, walkway, cycle track, golf cart track, INS Surat Warship Plaza, arrival plaza and surface parking.
3,800 sq. m. Urban Beach and Nine Sculptures
As part of the project, a 3,800 sq. m. urban beach, a 52,000 sq. m. public horticulture zone, a 750-metre-long walkway, and nine attractive sculptures are being developed. Work is currently progressing at full speed across the 12.86-hectare Zone 1 area.
A total of ₹257.66 crore has been allocated for Zone 1, ₹174.22 crore under Package-1 and ₹83.44 crore under Package-2. Of this, work worth ₹128.46 crore under Package-1 has been completed. DeshGujarat
