Gujarat’s renewable capacity surges by 7.5 GW from April to Oct 2025

Ahmedabad: Gujarat has witnessed one of its fastest phases of clean-energy growth, adding 7.5 GW of new renewable capacity between April and October 2025, according to the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). The state’s total capacity rose from 33.3 GW in March to 40.69 GW by the end of October. This includes 24.14 GW of solar power, 14.49 GW of wind power, and other renewable sources.

MNRE data places Gujarat among the top three states in new capacity addition and renewable generation. Total renewable generation during April–October rose from 31.12 million units in 2024 to 41.17 million units in 2025, a 30% increase.

Industry experts attribute the surge primarily to utility-scale solar and wind park installations, facilitated by rapid project clearances, faster land pooling in hybrid parks, and upgraded evacuation infrastructure that helped clear pending projects. Meanwhile, developers cite clearer tariff visibility, faster grid approvals, and growing demand for round-the-clock green energy contracts from industries such as chemicals, pharma, and heavy manufacturing as key growth factors.
