Gujarat CEO Meets Political Parties; Urges Appointment of Maximum BLAs for Voter Assistance

Ahmedabad: Gujarat’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Harit Shukla on Wednesday held a review meeting with representatives of recognized political parties to assess the progress of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll. Representatives from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian National Congress (INC), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) attended the meeting.

CEO Harit Shukla informed the parties that more than 82.85% of enumeration forms have already been digitized, with the figure rising every hour. Remote and tribal districts are leading in digitization, while the process is progressing rapidly across all 33 districts. He praised the dedication of Booth Level Officers (BLOs), calling them “soldiers of the Election Commission.”

To support them, more than 50,000 Booth Level Agents (BLAs) from political parties and over 30,000 volunteers in municipal and nagarpalika areas have joined the campaign. Highlighting the crucial role of BLAs in the upcoming phases, Shukla urged political parties to appoint the maximum possible number of BLAs.

To address voter queries and eliminate confusion, six statewide special camps were organised on November 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, and 30, benefiting more than 50 lakh citizens. Additional camps will be organised in the next phases as well.

The CEO announced that the draft electoral roll will be published on December 16, 2025. Lists of voters whose names are not included, along with reasons for non-inclusion, will be displayed at local self-government offices and on the CEO website: https://ceo.gujarat.gov.in. Citizens whose names do not appear may submit Form 6, and applications received before January 15, 2026, will be considered for inclusion in the final roll after verification. Forms 6 and 8 can also be submitted any time after January 15 under the continuous updation process.

Representatives of all the political parties assured full cooperation with the Election Commission throughout the electoral roll revision process. DeshGujarat
