Two held for illegal fishing at Sabarmati Riverfront following viral video

Ahmedabad: Police have detained two persons, identified as Hanif Hyderbhai and Vali Muhammad Kasambhai, after a video showing them fishing illegally in the Sabarmati River went viral on social media.
According to officials, the clip—widely shared across platforms—showed the duo fishing along the Sabarmati Riverfront in violation of restrictions imposed in the area. Acting on the footage, the Sabarmati Riverfront East Police launched an inquiry and subsequently traced and apprehended both individuals.
Police said the two men admitted to fishing without permission. “After verifying the authenticity of the viral video, we located and detained the individuals involved,” an officer said, adding that appropriate legal action has been initiated.
The incident has sparked online discussions regarding enforcement and monitoring along the Riverfront, a major public attraction in Ahmedabad. DeshGujarat
