Final Hurdle on Godhra-Vadodara Section of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Being Cleared
December 08, 2025
Godhra: Construction on the 1,386 km-long, 8-lane Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is making significant progress in Gujarat, with the final package of the Delhi-Vadodara stretch nearing completion. The expressway has been divided into multiple packages for efficient management. Packages 29 to 31 connect Vadodara with Godhra and are expected to become operational soon, as the final works have picked up pace.
The latest on-ground update focuses on Package 31, the last segment of the Delhi-Vadodara section, spanning from Pratapnagar to the Ahmedabad-Vadodara NE1 Interchange. Built by PNC Infratech Pvt. Ltd., this 19.5 km stretch had faced delays mainly due to high-tension line shifting.
Vlogger reports and recent visuals show significant progress:
-
Large high-tension lines at two points along the expressway have been shifted, while smaller lines are still pending at one location. Work on the remaining lines has now begun, including the erection of new towers and the ongoing wiring process.
-
Another high-tension line near the NE1 Interchange has been shifted, and final road works are underway in that area.
The expressway beyond the high-tension line is fully complete, including bitumen laying, lane markings, crash barriers, plantation, and finishing works.
Interchanges, including the one connecting to Ahmedabad-Vadodara (National Expressway 1), are operational, with entry and exit ramps ready for vehicles.
Package 30, spanning from Pratapnagar to Kalol, is around 98% complete, with minor lane marking and finishing works pending. Package 29, connecting Godhra to Kalol, has been fully completed.
Once the pending high-tension line shifting in Package 31 is finished, the entire Godhra to Vadodara stretch will be open for traffic, allowing smooth travel from Godhra to Bharuch, as the Vadodara-Bharuch section has already been operational for some time. Furthermore, with final works underway on the Bharuch to Navsari section, commuters may be able to travel from Godhra to Navsari in one go on the expressway by early 2026. DeshGujarat
