IndiGo Cancellation Chaos Continues: Over 40 Flights Cancelled at Ahmedabad Airport

Ahmedabad: Flight disruptions caused by IndiGo’s ongoing operational crisis continued unabated on Monday, with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport witnessing over 40 cancellations through the day. Both arrivals and departures were severely affected, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded and forcing many to rebook or modify travel plans at short notice.

According to the airport’s updated flight information, 21 arrivals and 23 departures operated by IndiGo were cancelled, marking yet another day of massive disruption at Gujarat’s busiest aviation hub. Today’s cancellations follow over 65 flights scrapped on Sunday, which left thousands of passengers stranded at the airport. Many said the airline informed them about the cancellations at the last minute.

On Monday, flights from major metros and key cities, including Delhi (6E 6792, 6E 2262, 6E 163, 6E 5317), Mumbai (6E 5251, 6E 534, 6E 802), Hyderabad (6E 883, 6E 6927, 6E 6338), as well as services from Goa, Pune, Chennai, Amritsar, Srinagar, Lucknow, Bengaluru, and Kolkata, were cancelled. The first cancellations began shortly after midnight, impacting flights scheduled from 00:05 hrs to 23:50 hrs.

Outbound flights to Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Goa, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Amritsar, Srinagar, and Lucknow were also among those cancelled.

With more than 40 flights grounded, passengers reported long queues at airline counters, lack of clear information about rebooking options, and long delays in processing refunds. Many complained that cancellation messages were received only a few hours before departure. This situation has persisted at several airports across the nation since last week.

IndiGo continues to grapple with what has become a nationwide operational meltdown, triggered by large-scale crew unavailability since last week. On Friday, the airline cancelled a record 1,600 flights across India.

Meanwhile, to support travellers, the Ahmedabad airport has enhanced passenger-handling facilities and deployed additional staff across key touchpoints to assist with queries. An IRCTC help desk has also been set up outside Terminal 1 to support stranded passengers and local residents requiring onward travel arrangements. DeshGujarat
