Husband Dies, Wife Critically Injured in Honeybee Attack

Bardoli: A tragic incident unfolded in Vagheshwar village of Mahuva taluka when a cattle-rearing couple was attacked by a swarm of bees while cutting fodder in their field. The sudden and aggressive attack left the husband dead and the wife critically injured.

According to details, 45-year-old Jitubhai Sumanbhai Patel and his wife Meenaben Jitubhai Patel—both engaged in farming and cattle rearing—had gone to their paddy field on Sunday to cut grass for their livestock. While they were busy with their routine work, a large swarm of bees unexpectedly emerged from within the field.

Before the couple could react, the bees charged at them with intense buzzing and began stinging them repeatedly. Startled and in immense pain, both Jitubhai and Meenaben cried for help but the swarm continued attacking relentlessly. Jitubhai collapsed on the spot after receiving numerous stings, while Meenaben, also severely stung, struggled to stay conscious.

Local residents alerted emergency services, and both victims were rushed to CHC Tankal Hospital via a 108 ambulance. However, doctors declared Jitubhai Patel dead on arrival due to excessive envenomation and shock. Meenaben was shifted to Kharel Hospital for advanced treatment, where her condition remains critical.

Mahuva Police have registered a case of accidental death and initiated further investigation into the incident.

The incident has shocked the local community, with villagers expressing grief over the sudden loss and praying for Meenaben’s recovery.
