RMC plans to earn ₹350 crore via sale of seven TP plots
December 09, 2025
Rajkot: After a gap of three years, the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) has shortlisted seven Town Planning (TP) plots for auction to bridge its widening income–expenditure gap.
As per the reports, RMC’s finances have weakened significantly, with earlier fixed deposits worth several crores now exhausted. With no approval for tax hikes during the election year and state restrictions on land sales over the past three years, the corporation’s revenue is expected to fall nearly 40% short of its expenditure. Rising establishment costs, including a forthcoming 20% increase in the salary bill due to new sanitation worker recruitment, have added further pressure.
To address the shortfall, RMC aims to raise around ₹350 crore through land sales. Prime TP plots on Ring Road, Raiya Road, and Morbi Road, covering about 40,000 sq metres, have been selected for auction. Detailed disclosures will be issued soon.
A senior corporator said the civic body faces similar financial stress every December, prompting the move to complete land sales before the end of March. DeshGujarat
