Gujarat’s first elevated Surat APMC market yard to be inaugurated on Dec 13

Surat: The state’s first elevated market yard, built at an estimated cost of Rs 1,500 crore by Surat APMC (Agricultural Produce Market Committee), is set to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Saturday at 9:15 am at Sardar Market, Pune Kumbhariya Road.

Surat APMC has been ranked first in the state in terms of revenue for the last two years, handling a tonnage of Rs 3,700 crore.

MLA and Surat APMC Chairman Sandeep Desai said, “Surat APMC’s new market yard is the first elevated market yard in the state, where trucks can directly load goods onto vegetable racks on the first floor and then move to the parking area. Separate arrangements have been made for car and two-wheeler parking on the terrace, accommodating 500 cars and 1,000 two-wheelers. The yard has 108 shops equipped with cold storage facilities and working offices.”

In addition to the new yard, the old sections have been renovated to match the grandeur of the elevated structure. Renovation work includes painting, lighting, fans, and a newly constructed road, giving the entire market yard a uniform and modern look.

The inauguration will also see the presence of prominent leaders, including Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi, State BJP President Jagdishbhai Vishwakarma, Minister for Cooperation Jitubhai Vaghani, other state ministers, Mayor Dakshesh Mavani, MP Mukeshbhai Dalal, Parbhubhai Vasava, and District Panchayat President Bhaviniben Patel.
