Passenger held with hydroponic ganja worth Rs 1.5 crore at Surat Airport

Surat: Customs officials, along with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), have seized hydroponic cannabis from a passenger arriving from Bangkok at Surat International Airport.
The accused, Adilnavaj Shaikh, who landed on an Air India Express flight on Thursday, was arrested by officers of the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU). He was produced before a court on Friday and subsequently remanded to judicial custody. Shaikh is a resident of Bharuch.
Acting on specific inputs from the DRI, officials conducted a detailed search of his baggage and recovered 24 vacuum-sealed packets containing a green substance, with a total weight of 1.68 kg. Preliminary analysis by the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory confirmed the substance to be cannabis, with an estimated market value of Rs 1.50 crore. DeshGujarat
