Gujarat Govt Hikes Charges for PUC Certificate

Ahmedabad: The State Transport Department has increased the fee for Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates for vehicles by up to Rs 50, with new rates now applicable across 2,000 PUC centers in the state, including 250 in Ahmedabad. According to the notification, the fee hike covers two-wheelers, cars, and heavy vehicles. PUC center owners are prohibited from charging any amount beyond the fixed rates.
After the last revision several years ago, the rates have been increased by 50–67 percent, and the new charges are already being implemented at various centers across the state. PUC certificates, which are valid for six months to a year, must be recorded online and made visible on the vehicle portal.

Authorities have noted that some centers still issue certificates without entering proper details online, despite previous investigations and actions taken by the RTO. The department has emphasized that all PUC centers must upload complete details of every certificate issued. The fee hike comes after representations from PUC center owners seeking higher charges.
