ACB Gujarat nabs cooperative society office-bearer in ₹2.80 lakh bribe case

Bhuj: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat on Thursday trapped an office-bearer of a cooperative society while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹2.80 lakh in Bhuj.
The accused, Ghanshyambhai Patel, is the Honorary Secretary and Executive Member of the Shri Nakhatrana Taluka Panchayat Primary Consumer Credit Cooperative Society, Nakhatrana, and works as a Head Teacher (Class-03) at Shri Mathal Primary School, Nakhatrana. According to the ACB, Patel allegedly demanded ₹2.80 lakh from the complainant as illegal gratification in return for clearing bills amounting to ₹7,52,132 for goods supplied to the cooperative society.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB, which, on the basis of the complaint, laid a trap. During the operation, the accused allegedly reiterated the demand, accepted the bribe amount, and was caught red-handed. The entire ₹2.80 lakh was recovered from his possession. DeshGujarat
