GSHRC issues notice to Ahmedabad police, civic body over manhole accident
December 20, 2025
Gandhinagar: The Gujarat State Human Rights Commission (GSHRC) has issued notices to the Ahmedabad police commissioner and the municipal commissioner following the death of a two-wheeler rider who allegedly met with a fatal accident after encountering an uncovered manhole in the Kubernagar area of Ahmedabad last month.
The commission has sought a report from the concerned authorities on the incident and scheduled a hearing in the matter for December 30.
The notice was issued after a representation by rights activist Kantilal Parmar, who claimed that the rider’s scooter got trapped in the open manhole. He alleged that the failure to replace the manhole cover and negligence on the part of civic authorities led to the rider’s death. DeshGujarat
