Gujarat ATS Nabs Godara–Boxer Gang Member Wanted in Haryana Court Killing

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), in coordination with the Special Operations Group (SOG) and the Local Crime Branch (LCB) of East Kutch police, on Sunday arrested two persons, including an alleged sharpshooter linked to the Rohit Godara–Naveen Boxer gang, from Rapar in Kutch district.

According to officials, the main accused, Vikas Sheoran, a native of Kakroli village in Haryana, was wanted in connection with a murder case registered in Haryana involving a shooting inside court premises. Acting on tip-off indicating that Sheoran was hiding in Rapar, Gujarat ATS verified the information and shared it with East Kutch police, following which a joint operation was launched.

The team located Sheoran at a house in Nageshwar Park area of Rapar, where he was staying with an associate, Dinkesh Garg, originally from Kaithal in Haryana and currently residing in Kutch. Both were detained and brought to the Gujarat ATS office in Ahmedabad for questioning.

During preliminary interrogation, investigators found that Sheoran was allegedly involved in the murder of Lavjeet Kumar, a resident of Rohtak, who was shot dead inside the court premises in Bhiwani, Haryana, on September 4. Police said the killing was the outcome of an inter-gang rivalry and was carried out as part of a pre-planned conspiracy. Sheoran, along with associates Ajay and Rohit, allegedly opened fire at close range using pistols supplied by gang leader Rohit Godara.

A murder case in connection with the incident was registered at the Bhiwani Police Lines police station. After the killing, Sheoran went underground and, on the instructions of gang leaders, shifted to Gujarat in November, where he took shelter with Garg.

During questioning, Garg reportedly told investigators that he knew Naveen Boxer personally and had provided shelter to Sheoran on his instructions, despite being aware of the accused’s criminal background. After confirming the details, Gujarat ATS informed the Haryana Special Task Force (STF), following which both accused were handed over to the Haryana STF for further investigation and legal action.
