Dholera: Devotees planning a trip from Ahmedabad to Salangpur Hanumanji can now reach their destination significantly faster, thanks to the newly built Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway, which passes through Dholera Smart City.

The 108-kilometre infrastructure project, connecting Ahmedabad’s Sardar Patel Ring Road (SP Ring Road) to Adhelai village near Bhavnagar, has been completed, and people have started using the expressway to commute between Ahmedabad and Bhavnagar. However, the expressway has not been officially inaugurated yet. In good news for devotees wanting to visit Salangpur, a famous pilgrimage site housing the Kashtabhanjan Hanumanji temple, this expressway offers a quicker journey compared to the traditional route via Bagodara and Dhandhuka.

New Route: Faster Despite Being Bit Longer

For those traveling by car, the expressway can be accessed from the SP Ring Road, continuing on the greenfield expressway passing through Dholera Smart City, and driving until the Hebatpur Diamond Interchange. From there, travelers can exit onto the Botad-Barwala state highway. Salangpur is around 35 kilometres from the Hebatpur Interchange and can be reached in approximately 30 minutes.

People who have commuted on this route state that the expressway has cut travel time from Ahmedabad to Salangpur to just 2 hours, offering a faster and more convenient alternative for cars and taxis.

According to Google Maps, traveling via Dholera on the 140 km stretch takes around 2 hours and 15 minutes, depending on traffic, while the older Bavla-Bagodara-Fedara-Dhandhuka road, covering 136 km, takes over 2.5 hours. Similarly, the 149 km route via Bagodara-Limbdi typically takes around 3 hours or more.

If one travels from Ahmedabad during morning or non-peak traffic hours, the commute to Salangpur can be completed smoothly in around 2 hours using this expressway.

The new expressway is being hailed by devotees who have traveled it, as it significantly reduces travel time, making it easier to reach Salangpur Hanumanji. However it must be noted that the road after Dholera Expressway from Hebatpur is single patti (narrower) and full of potholes as per those who traveled on that road, and therefore  the journey could be not as smooth on the last stretch as expected.
