Gujarat govt forms committee to review Land Revenue Act

Gandhinagar: The state government has constituted a committee to review the Gujarat Land Revenue Act, 1879, along with its allied rules and resolutions, and to suggest necessary amendments.
The committee, headed by retired IAS officer C. L. Meena, includes retired IAS officers M. B. Parmar and Anis Mankad, along with a member secretary, and has been asked to submit its report to the government within six months. A notification to this effect was issued on December 22.
As per the notification, the panel will examine rules, resolutions and manuals of the revenue department linked to the Act and recommend suitable changes. It will also review provisions of the law in light of interpretations by the High Court and the Supreme Court in various judgments.
The committee has further been tasked with suggesting amendments to laws and rules based on representations received from different organisations and associations, including those of builders, lawyers and other stakeholders. DeshGujarat
