January 02, 2026
New Delhi: The cooperatives-backed ride-hailing platform Bharat Taxi is set for a full rollout in Delhi and several cities in Gujarat and other states by the end of January, following a strong response to its soft launch, a senior official from the Ministry of Cooperation said on Thursday.
The app-based service, operated by Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Ltd, was introduced on a pilot basis in the national capital on December 2, 2024. With an encouraging response to the soft launch, the official rollout is set to take place by the end of the month, a senior official told a news agency.
With over 1.4 lakh drivers registered on the platform so far, Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Ltd is promoted by eight leading cooperative institutions—Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (Amul), IFFCO, KRIBHCO, NAFED, National Dairy Development Board, National Cooperative Exports Limited, National Cooperative Development Corporation and NABARD. Its board also includes two driver representatives elected from among the members.
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah had announced the launch of the cooperative-based taxi service in Parliament in March 2024. DeshGujarat
