Bus-truck accident on NH-48 leaves 10 bullet train workers injured in Navsari

Navsari: At least 10 workers were injured in a serious road accident early this morning on National Highway 48 near Navsari, when a bus carrying labourers associated with the Ahmedabad–Mumbai bullet train project collided with a container truck.

According to preliminary information, the bus was travelling along the highway when the container driver, allegedly speeding, attempted to overtake another vehicle. During the manoeuvre, the rear portion of the container rammed into the bus with force, triggering the accident.

The impact caused panic among the passengers, leaving more than 10 workers with minor to serious injuries. Local residents and passers-by rushed to assist, and the injured were promptly shifted by ambulance to a private hospital in Navsari for treatment. Hospital sources said that while most are stable, the condition of a few injured workers is reported to be serious.

Following the incident, the Navsari rural police reached the spot. The container driver reportedly fled the scene after the accident. Police have registered a case against the unidentified driver and launched a search to trace him.

The collision led to heavy traffic congestion on the highway, with vehicles backed up for several kilometres. Police later cleared the obstruction, diverted traffic, and restored normal movement after sustained efforts. DeshGujarat
