ACB Gujarat forms SIT to probe corruption case against ex-Surendranagar collector and others

Surendranagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to conduct a probe into a corruption case registered against four government officials in Surendranagar, including the now suspended district collector.

An offence has been registered at the Surendranagar ACB Police Station under Sections 7, 12, 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018). The accused include Chandrasinh Mori, Deputy Mamlatdar, Surendranagar (Class-III); Rajendra Mahendrabhai Patel, Collector, Surendranagar (Class-I); Mayur Gohil, Clerk, District Office, Surendranagar (Class-III); and Jayrajsinh Zala, Personal Assistant to the Collector, Surendranagar (Class-III).

Following the registration of the case, ACB Director Piyush Patel ordered the formation of a Special Investigation Team to ensure a neutral, unbiased, and swift investigation into the alleged corruption and the disproportionate assets of the accused. The SIT has been constituted under the leadership of Additional Director Bipin Ahire, with officers from different ACB units included in the team.

Composition of the SIT

The Special Investigation Team comprises the following officers, who will function under the directions of the Director and Additional Director of the ACB:

  • M.D. Patel, Police Inspector, Surendranagar ACB Police Station – Member

  • P.A. Dekawadiya, Police Inspector, Morbi ACB Police Station – Member
