Rajkot: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) at Marwadi University in Rajkot on January 11, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi announced on Monday. He expressed confidence that the conference would help attract large-scale investments to the Saurashtra and Kutch regions.
Addressing a press conference at the Rajkot District Collectorate, Sanghavi said the Gujarat government remains committed to the swift resolution of issues, queries, and representations from both small and large industrialists to enable investment expansion and accelerate industrial growth in the state.
He said a coordination meeting was held in Rajkot on Monday to facilitate on-the-spot resolution of issues raised by industrialists. A group meeting involving all concerned government departments was also conducted to ensure coordinated and timely action.
Sanghavi noted that Rajkot has emerged as a key growth engine of Gujarat’s manufacturing sector. To attract greater domestic and global investment, the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference has been organised in Rajkot. He added that the first edition of the regional conference was successfully held earlier in Mehsana.
Highlighting Rajkot’s rapid progress across sectors, particularly manufacturing, Sanghavi said the objective of the meeting was to further accelerate development and make it easier for traders, industrialists, and manufacturers to conduct their business operations.
He said that under various industrial policies of the Gujarat government, incentive assistance amounting to ₹956.51 crore has been disbursed from Rajkot. Approval letters worth ₹661.73 crore will be handed over to 137 industrialists from the Saurashtra and Kutch regions under schemes such as the Textile Incentive to Industries Scheme, the Environment Industrial Infrastructure Scheme, and the Small Industries Scheme. Sanghavi added that Gujarat is the fastest state in the country in disbursing industrial incentives, with the Industries Department working round the clock to expedite the process.
Sanghavi further said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gujarat has attracted the highest investment in the country. He expressed confidence that the state, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, will continue to lead on the path of development by attracting maximum investment with the cooperation of all citizens.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister in charge Jitubhai Vaghani said industrialists and traders play a vital role in strengthening the state’s economy. He welcomed the initiative of direct interaction with industrialists to resolve issues at the ground level and address policy-related matters at the state level.
Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) Jayanti Ravi, Additional Chief Secretary (Industries and Mines) Mamta Verma, MLAs Udaybhai Kangad, Dr. Darshitaben Shah, Durlabhjibhai Detharia, and District Collector Om Prakash, among others, were present at the press conference.
