January 08, 2026
Surat: To prevent traffic congestion during the three-day Suvali Beach Festival beginning tomorrow, January 9, Surat police have announced temporary traffic restrictions, including one-way routes and a ban on heavy vehicles on select roads.
From January 9 to 11, the stretch from Ichhapore crossroads to Mora Tran Rasta via L&T Gate-2 to Suvali will operate as a one-way route, while the return journey from Suvali to Mora village and further to Ichhapore will also remain one-way. In addition, heavy vehicles will not be allowed on the ONGC Circle–Hazira Road and the Mora Tran Rasta–Mora–Suvali road between 4 pm and 11 pm on all three days to ease traffic flow.
The festival will be inaugurated in the presence of Union Minister C R Patil, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi and state ministers Kanu Desai, Praful Panseriya and Jayram Gamit. After severe traffic snarls were reported during last year’s festival, the district administration and Surat police have introduced additional measures this time to ensure smooth movement.
