D-Mart employee booked for stealing ₹3.51 lakh in Surat store
January 10, 2026
Surat: A case of internal theft has come to light at the D-Mart store in Singanpore, where an employee has been accused of siphoning off ₹3.51 lakh from the store’s cash collections. The incident surfaced after discrepancies were detected between the amount meant to be deposited and the actual sum credited to the bank.
According to information the accused employee, Divyesh Herba, was responsible for depositing the store’s daily cash collections into the bank. Over a period of time, he allegedly diverted portions of the money for personal use instead of depositing the full amount.
The matter came to notice when the store management observed that the bank deposits were consistently lower than expected. Suspicion deepened when Herba stopped reporting for duty from Wednesday. Following this, the store manager reviewed the CCTV footage installed on the premises.
The footage reportedly showed the employee removing cash at different intervals, confirming the theft. Based on this evidence, the management lodged a formal complaint at the Singanpore police station.
Police officials have registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter. Efforts are currently underway to trace the accused and recover the stolen amount. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation. DeshGujarat
