Chill continues in Gujarat as minimum temperatures remain below normal

Gandhinagar: Cold conditions continued across Gujarat last night, with minimum temperatures remaining below normal at most weather stations, indicating a persistent winter chill across the state.
According to the morning weather report issued by the India Meteorological Department, Naliya in Kutch recorded the lowest minimum temperature at just 3.8°C, making it the coldest location in the state. Other regions of the state also experienced sharp night-time cooling, with Rajkot at 8.9°C, Bhuj at 9.0°C, and Gandhinagar at 9.5°C, all well below seasonal averages.
Ahmedabad registered a minimum of 11.6°C, marginally below normal, while Deesa recorded 12.0°C. Vadodara (Baroda) reported 12.4°C and Dahod 11.4°C. Coastal and southern districts were comparatively warmer but still largely below normal, with Surat at 14.0°C, Veraval at 15.5°C, Daman at 15.2°C, and Porbandar at 11.5°C.
Among other notable readings, Amreli recorded 7.6°C, Bhavnagar 12.0°C, Dwarka 13.6°C, and Kandla 12.2°C, all indicating widespread cooler-than-usual conditions. The minimum temperature at Okha stood at 16.8°C, the highest among the listed stations.
Meteorological data show that most stations reported negative departures from normal minimum temperatures, with Naliya showing a sharp –6.1°C departure, followed by Rajkot at –3.9°C and Amreli at –3.8°C, underscoring the intensity of the cold wave-like conditions in parts of the state.
No rainfall was reported anywhere in Gujarat during the past 24 hours.
Weather officials indicated that the cold conditions are likely to persist in several districts, particularly over Saurashtra, Kutch, and parts of north Gujarat, with residents advised to take necessary precautions during early morning and night hours. DeshGujarat
