Valsad’s long-awaited Dharampur Road railway overbridge likely to open in February

Valsad: The much-awaited railway overbridge on Valsad–Dharampur Road is finally nearing completion and is likely to be opened for vehicular traffic in the first week of February, bringing partial relief to residents who have been waiting for its completion for nearly four years.
The four-lane railway overbridge, which is being constructed at a cost of over ₹175 crore, aims to provide seamless connectivity between Valsad city, Atul, and Dharampur. The project has faced multiple delays since its inception, with work progressing at a slow pace.
The first-phase deadline set by the concerned department was July 2024, which was later extended to December 2024. Despite this, the construction continued to face setbacks. However, officials now state that the major portion of the high overbridge, stretching nearly 1,000 meters from the grounds of C.B. High School on Dharampur Road to Vashiar D-Mart, has been almost completed.
Recently, two girder slabs were installed, and the curing process of the concrete—necessary to ensure structural strength—is currently underway. Once this process is completed, the bridge will be ready for vehicular movement. Sources indicate that a formal inauguration is expected to take place around 20 days after its opening, likely in the first week of February 2026.
While this development is being welcomed by local residents, traffic-related challenges are expected to continue due to ongoing work on additional connectivity projects. The bridge connecting the new high overbridge to Abrama is still under construction and is likely to take about a year to be completed.
Furthermore, the construction of a lower bridge from the new overbridge to Vashiar Country Club is slated to be undertaken by DFCCIL (Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited). However, there is currently no clarity on when this work will begin or when it will be completed.
As a result, questions are being raised about the overall timeline for the completion of the entire multi-layer Dharampur Road Railway Overbridge project. Even after the new high overbridge becomes operational, traffic confusion is likely to persist due to the bridge’s design and incomplete connectivity, causing uncertainty among motorists regarding entry and exit routes.
Local residents and commuters are now hoping that authorities will expedite the remaining phases of the project to ensure smoother traffic flow and minimize inconvenience in the future.
