ED Ahmedabad files chargesheets against 14 accused in Magicwin online betting case

Ahmedabad: The Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Ahmedabad Zonal Office, has filed a Prosecution Complaint (PC) before the Special Court here in connection with the betting case involving the Magicwin website and others. The complaint was filed on January 15, 2026, under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002. A total of 14 individuals and entities have been named as accused in the case.
The ED initiated its investigation based on an FIR registered by the Cyber Crime Police Station, Ahmedabad, against the owners of the Magicwin website and others under the Indian Penal Code, Copyright Act, and Information Technology Act. The FIR pertains to the unauthorised hosting, streaming, and broadcasting of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 cricket matches, the media rights for which were granted by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to Star India Pvt. Ltd.
Magicwin is a betting exchange platform that offers sports betting and leisure gambling services through its website and mobile application. The platform provides live casino games such as Baccarat, Teen Patti, Roulette, Andar-Bahar, Poker, and Blackjack, all operated by live dealers rather than automated bots.
In addition to casino gaming, Magicwin offers sports betting on major events across cricket, tennis, football, and horse racing, with multiple fancy market options. Users are also able to view live match streams along with live scorecards while placing bets.
According to the ED, the Magicwin website is owned by Magicwin Sports Limited, a company registered in the United Kingdom. The company’s directors are Gulab Harji Mal and Omesh Kumar Gurnani, both Pakistani nationals who are reportedly residing in the United Arab Emirates. DeshGujarat
